Individual Counseling

You can get better. Live the life you deserve.

Sandra had never seen a counselor before.

She wasn’t sure how the process worked, or if it would work.

She was filled with grief following the death of her brother, and her long-time boyfriend just ended their relationship.

Feeling hopeless, alone, and lost, Sandra couldn’t get out of bed.

Her depression was taking control.

Sandra knew it was time to get the help she needed.

I can help.

Over the phone, we discussed what she wanted to work on, the counseling process, and how to get started.

Sandra understood the sessions would focus on her needs. She felt slightly hopeful and decided to schedule a session.

Sandra came to counseling with the same mask she wore for months…

…the one that made it seem like she was fine and keeping it all together.

Once we sat down, she learned it was okay to take off the mask – it was necessary for our work to start.

She let it out: all the grief, the anger, and the frustration. She cried, and it felt good.

During the first session, Sandra realized that she would have support through the hard stuff. She was also motivated to keep working toward her goals.

She felt safe. She was actually being heard.

Sandra felt lighter after our hour together, and it reinforced that counseling was the right choice.

By the end of Sandra’s first session, she knew she could reach out, at any time, if needed (even help with homework). She thought it was a little weird, but she agreed to start a journal. This helped her grieve the loss of her brother.

Committed to feeling better, Sandra arrived at each session without the mask and ready to work.

She completed her homework assignments and pushed herself, even though she didn’t always want to do the work.

Little by little, Sandra noticed she was changing.

Gone were the days of missing work and isolation.

Life didn’t seem as dreary and hopeless – it was getting better.

Sandra realized she was getting better.

Counseling can help you, too.

Sandra didn’t enter counseling confident it would make her feel better, but she was willing to try.

She knew that nothing she had tried previously provided her with long-term relief from her depression.

Now she has the skills to cope when the feelings of depression creep in, she has a solid support system and has found a new passion for life.

These results are possible for you as well.

It’s time to invest in yourself and your well-being.
