ABOUT
Counseling is about you. Your needs and your goals.
Several factors probably led you to consider crossing the threshold to my office.
You aren’t happy in your relationship, you’re in a rut at work, or maybe you just feel like you aren’t in control.
Whatever it may be, I’m happy to see you. Really, I am.
Counseling is an investment in yourself, your well-being, and your future.
Counseling might seem scary, or maybe you’re apprehensive about opening up because of a previous negative experience. That’s ok.
I’ll be with you through it all.
I’m not here to judge you for being stuck in an unfulfilling relationship.
I don’t think you are crazy, because your anxiety is getting the best of you.
I want to make sure you get the most out of our time together.
My goal is to create a safe space where you can really let out everything you have been keeping in.
You are allowed to unload all your baggage with me. We can sort through whatever is stuck inside your head.
Sessions might get emotional. It’s ok.
I’m fine with you crying, getting angry, or being proud when you have a success.
Therapy can be a bit of a rollercoaster, and I’m along with you for the ride.
Through the ups and downs of therapy you can trust that I will be there to support you and offer assistance with meeting your goals.
You deserve to be happy.
You deserve to be living your best life.
I can help you get there – all you need to do is reach out.
About Me
My style is inviting, warm and collaborative.
I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy, but integrate other models when I feel it is beneficial.
As a therapist, I will challenge you to find the root of your feelings, triggers and behaviors. With this knowledge, we will develop ways to process, cope and move forward.
I have always wanted to help people grow, and at first I thought I would do this by becoming a teacher. I soon became aware of the struggles my students were bringing with them every day to school. I hated that I couldn’t be more of a support to them and decided at that point I needed to do more.
I completed my Masters at Medaille College in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
My clinical experience includes residential treatment, school counseling, foster care and outpatient counseling. Through these settings I have worked extensively with individuals and families on issues related to trauma, anxiety, depression, relationships and family dynamics.
I am trained in EMDR therapy to help those struggling with complex trauma. I also have specified training to work with women and their partners during pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy and post-partum.
When I’m not in the office, I’m usually wrangling my two kids and attempting to keep my house in some sort of order. I love to travel, read and indulge in my guilty pleasure of watching reality TV. Let’s call it self-care.
